The Story Behind the Brand

Jim Jam's Zoo began as a fun little project, creating cool designs and slapping them onto t-shirts for a laugh. It was only after sharing those designs and getting incredibly positive feedback from friends and family that we thought, "Hang on a second, people would actually buy this stuff". And thus, Jim Jam's Zoo was born.

However, turning a few fun designs into an actual business isn't as simple as one might think, and as the brand identity began to take form, we decided we wanted to embody three main important principles: fun, quality and lastly, kindness

Fun speaks for itself. Our products, our website and our designs are written and created to be funny, intriguing and entertaining. We want people to come to our website to have a laugh as much as to buy our products!

Quality is incredibly important to us. We're not here to create gimmicky designs printed on cheap fabric to be worn for a season and never again. Our products are designed with longevity in mind and to be worn year-after-year.

Kindness is easy for us to show as individuals, but we want to go further. Scroll down to find out what we're doing to be kind to the world.

"We wanted to embody three main important principles: fun, quality and lastly, kindness."

Being Kind to the World

We're keen to be kind to the planet. For that reason, we've committed to offset our carbon emissions from shipping. That means we donate a portion of every sale to our partner offsetting company. They use that money to fund projects across the world that aim to protect large swaths of forests which currently act as carbon sinks that would otherwise be destroyed. The current project being supported is the Jarí Para REDD+ Avoided Unplanned Deforestation project with Pachama; which operates at the front lines of deforestation in the Amazon, aiming to stop practices that are causing the destruction of modern rainforests.

We have also pledged to donate a portion of our profits to the WWF at the end of each year. The WWF aims to stop the destruction of nature and help it to recover by putting nature first, making food systems more sustainable, tackling the climate crisis and allowing habitats and species to survive.

Saying no to fast fashion

Additionally, our business model is different to most fashion retailers. We operate on a print-on-demand basis, which means when you (or any other customer) places an order with us, we only then prep and ship out the order. This allows us to use only what we need, and nothing more. But why is that important?

Firstly, the chemical process of producing inks can be incredibly damaging to the environment and it's something we're absolutely committed to reducing. The way we operate means that no ink goes to waste on leftover stock. Secondly, it means if we don't sell a product, it doesn't get thrown away but can be reused as a blank for another product. Less waste is best.
